I am a UKCP registered child and adolescent psychotherapist.

I work with children (9 +) adolescents and adults. I also offer supervision to other therapists.

Some of the areas that I work in include;

  • family breakdown
  • bereavement
  • anxiety/worries/stress
  • low mood
  • attachment difficulties
  • anger management
  • friendship difficulties/bullying
  • self harm
  • trauma
  • low self esteem and confidence
  • children and young people with ASD
  • children and young people with ADHD

Children may communicate their thoughts and feelings more naturally through using their imagination and being creative than they may do  through the use of words. When I work with children, the sessions are play based, not necessarily relying on talking. I see children in a room which has a sand tray, sand tray objects, puppets, games, toys and art and craft materials, all of which he or she is welcome to use.

When I work with teenagers, it may be that talking is the best way of communicating. However, I always have art and craft materials on offer for a young person as it may give also them another way of communicating and/or help them relax in the session whilst talking.

Rather than working with a young person alone, at times it may be helpful to work with parents and child together. It may be that the parents/young person need some help and support within their relationship and therefore this can be supported by someone who is not directly involved within the family structure.

Sessions take place in London, N20 8HD. (Please see SESSIONS for more details).

Sessions usually take place weekly on an agreed day and time. If you wish to make an initial appointment with Emma for yourselves and also to book weekly sessions for your child or adolescent please contact me at [email protected]
